Federica Brignone: "Being a flag bearer is a dream come true"
She had hoped for it on the eve, now Federica Brignone can say it: she will be one of the four flag bearers at the Milan Cortina 2026 Games: “It is the dream come true. Since the day of the injury it has been the motivation to fight and get back up. Thanks to all those who have been close to me all along and even more so in these months. I thank President Buonfiglio for giving me the’honor of being the Flag Bearer at the Olympics in Italy,” said the Valle d’Aosta outfielder.
She is echoed by her fellow countryman Federico Pellegrino on official FISI channels: “I learn the news with joy and a lot of emotion, because throughout my career I have tried to be an example and I have always felt the responsibility towards the younger ones to represent my country in a world context. All this makes me proud.”
“I am proud to be the first athlete born in Val d’Aosta to hold this position, I am also proud for the Gruppo Sportivo Fiamme Oro that I represent – added the cross-country skier from Nus, who will close his career at the end of the season. “In addition to this, I believe that to close my career as a cross-country skier in Milan Cortina 2026 there could not be a better way”.
